Michael Betke Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I'm thinking of using the road system as a decal. It's easy to use/adjust in length and wide. The decal size made by TylerH is fixed as far as know. So it would be easy to make a nice decaltexture and apply it as a road texture. My problem is to delete the parts which prevent the road to flatten the terrain if I press the "allign to road" button. Does simple file renaming the trick? I would still need "nodes". At least two of them to have a connection between them. Quote Pure3d Visualizations Germany - digital essences AAA 3D Model Shop specialized on nature and environments
Josh Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I would just use a single decal entity you write a script for. It can be much simpler than the road script. Quote My job is to make tools you love, with the features you want, and performance you can't live without.
wh1sp3r Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 decal on terrain ? script? entity ? yes, i would like to have decals on terrain Quote -= Phenom II X4 965 3.4Ghz - ATI HD5870 - 6 GB DDR3 RAM - Windows 8 Pro 64x=- Website: http://www.flamewarestudios.com
Michael Betke Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 Yes doing a script is easier but I cant do it hehe. I have to look for alternative ways and the road system came to my mind. Josh Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 I think Tyler and Masterxilo may have posted their examples in the old forum. Quote My job is to make tools you love, with the features you want, and performance you can't live without.
VicToMeyeZR Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Wouldn't it be just like the vegetation "decal" system? Quote AMD Phenom II x6 1100T - 16GB RAM - ATI 5870 HD - OCZ Vertex 2 60GB SSD
MrIslomaniac Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 /me is really interested in some kind of terrain decals that are also aligned to the terrain they are on =) keep me posted Dustin Quote
VicToMeyeZR Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I think a real decal system built into the editor would be the best. a "decal" that you can paint on ANY surface..., not just the terrain like this: http://vimeo.com/5506203 Quote AMD Phenom II x6 1100T - 16GB RAM - ATI 5870 HD - OCZ Vertex 2 60GB SSD
Michael Betke Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 really a nice have. I like how they handled it. Quote Pure3d Visualizations Germany - digital essences AAA 3D Model Shop specialized on nature and environments
VicToMeyeZR Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Yeah. Not to advertise for them, cause I really don't like their company, and they lie about the capabilities of there system, but the decal is nice. Quote AMD Phenom II x6 1100T - 16GB RAM - ATI 5870 HD - OCZ Vertex 2 60GB SSD
