george68 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Hello from new kid in town, Consider a scenario where there is no Internet connection or a Steam account (or website) is down for any reason. In that case I cannot install the Leadwerks engine even if I've already paid for this. I also would like to know, if I can have the API Reference available offline. Thanks Quote
cassius Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 The editor will run without internet connection but I agree about api ref. Quote amd quad core 4 ghz / geforce 660 ti 2gb / win 10 Blender,gimp,silo2,ac3d,,audacity,Hexagon / using c++
macklebee Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 You can run the editor via the steam offline mode interface but I believe it will require you to occasionally login to steam. As for offline API Reference documentation, see this post: http://www.leadwerks.com/werkspace/topic/13871-offline-api-documentation/ Quote Win7 64bit / Intel i7-2600 CPU @ 3.9 GHz / 16 GB DDR3 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 LE / 3DWS / BMX / Hexagon macklebee's channel
george68 Posted January 4, 2016 Author Posted January 4, 2016 It seems that the editor cannot start without the Steam application running. I tried running the application: Leadwerks.exe from within C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Leadwerks folder. A modal dialog box appears, with the following: Can't initilize program. Please start Steam I cannot understand why Steam is the only option. Thank you very much for the answers and the .pdf documentation Quote
macklebee Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 As I mentioned in the previous post, you have to run the editor via the Steam offline mode interface. See here for more information for Steam offline mode: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3160-agcb-2555 Once in offline mode, then you can go to the Steam software tab and launch the application from Steam or from a desktop icon shortcut for the Engine created via the Steam interface.
