I see no difference when adjusting that define value, but if I change the code after it from:

#define SHALLOWRANGE 0.1

 

if (z>SHALLOWRANGE)

{

float depthmix = min(1.0,(z-SHALLOWRANGE)/(10.0-SHALLOWRANGE));

 

to this:

 

#define SHALLOWRANGE 0.1

 

if (z>SHALLOWRANGE)

{

float depthmix = min(1.0,(z-SHALLOWRANGE)/(3.0-SHALLOWRANGE));

 

then it appears to affect the transparency.

 

A value of 1.0 will make it basically opaque.
