indie edition and standard edition

hi just wondering what the difference is between the indie and standard edition on steam. there is a sale on and i'm curious as to which edition to buy. do they require any other editions to function or not? and whats included in each edition?. Thanks in advance.

Standard edition is if you want to code in c++ and indie edition is if you only want to code in lua. I think standard is an upgrade dlc so you have to get the indie version anyway.

@cassius - you purchased when LE3 was being offered as a standalone application. That option does not exist any more and Josh converted your application to the steam equivalent which is the Indie edition (lua only) plus the Standard edition (C++ DLC).
