Let me preface this with saying, I'm not a fan of Gar(b)ageGames in any way shape or form. I will say that they have a great feature they just added to Torque3D. It would be awesome for level designers to flesh out something playable. I really think it is awesome. Basically, it allows you to model in a similar way that Sketchup does. Here is a video:

I think Josh was considering adding some basic CSG editing support to the editor, not sure what he finally decided, or if he has yet.

I feel like CSG is a requirement for any mapping editor. You don't want your level designers to rely on the modelers for the core larger things in your level. The designer should be able to do those.

I really like that generic gray/orange texture with the resolution ("512x512") written on it. Where to get one just like that?

 

Those are extremely easy to make. I always use ones similar to those that I made.

Don't tell anyone, but I know a guy who knows a guy who can get his hands on some textures like those. It won't be cheap though, but it's good stuff.
