spydr622 Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Hello guys, I'm sorry in advanced if This has been posted many times already, I didn't look very well. I recently picked up the indie engine as a long term project in which I'm gonna teach myself every aspect of the whole game design process. The main thing I'm stuck on I can't seem to find a list of the difference supported on my version vs the main package you can purchase through the main site and I've noticed that different versions support different languages. What language am I restricted to and what would be the best language to start with for highest compatibility with leadwerks. Thanks in advanced guys! Quote
gamecreator Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 The Indy version does everything except allow you to code in C / C++. The Standard edition DLC adds that feature. I've seen that some commands aren't exposed to Lua so C / C++ has more commands available but I haven't seen a list comparing the two. Quote
spydr622 Posted December 25, 2014 Author Posted December 25, 2014 Awesome! Thanks. What about java/javascript? I know it's more versatile than lua and there's more material for starters on j/js. Quote
Josh Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Javascript is mostly for websites. Lua is the game industry standard script language. It's been used in Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Crysis, STALKER, and a ton of other AAA games. I recommend Lua, unless you already know C++. 1 Quote My job is to make tools you love, with the features you want, and performance you can't live without.
