Well, the single-state lua update is out and I am ready to start making tutorials again. :D

Someone in the forum pointed out the game Fuel to me. This is an offroad racing game with a nearly infinite world. The data is streamed off the hard drive, basically like its treating the drive as if it were extended RAM. The game got bad reviews, but I think it's great. I went driving for at least 30 minutes and covered mountains, desert, redwood forests, and ravines. I'm in love with the terrain engine. If only they had used that to make S.T.A.L.K.E.R...

There's much to do with our existing technology before I start inventing new technology again, but the possibilities are intriguing.

What does this release do?

I see some differences in some properties but most bugs are still in. Like settings are not saved, shadows are loosing etc...

Small improvements are good too but I'm curious when the "big" stuff will be fixed?

It makes it so the objects can see each other. Before each object was on it's own island which made communication between objects kind of a pain. This allows for greater object interaction via lua. It was just an update to the lua implementation.

Why is this all of a sudden a good idea? When I posted this on the forum, everyone attacked me like it was a dumb idea...including you Josh. Oh well...better late than never.

Attacked? Did I chase you with a sharpened stick? :D

Exactly. Just like in the Lord of the Flies. :D

Did you give a good argument and examples for it? Maybe you just don't know how to butter people up? :D

I too am for vegetation shadow AABB fix and settings save. These are capital fixes to the editor. It really is a pain to change my settings at each startup.

Go back and read your own posts. Its the way you proposed things that got peoples hackles up.

At one point you said, if X doesn't happen you would move on. You also made the sweeping generalization, "I personally believe the days of corridor shooters is drawing to a close". That seemed to be implying that games won't be good, unless they have the feature you want. So in actuality, these "attacks" made on you, were responses to the "attacks" you were making on the engine and games the community would make with it.

So as another poster suggested, you need to learn the art of diplomacy, or you will suffer from "persecution" for the rest of your life. :D
